Privacy Policy

Effective November 3, 2026

MuslimVille Education Center ("MuslimVille", "we", "us") is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that has served Muslim youth, children, and families in the Greater Toronto Area since 1999. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what information we collect through muslimville.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, plus a small amount of technical data:

  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message. We also record the date and time you wrote to us and your browser type (user agent), which helps us filter spam. To prevent abuse, we also temporarily keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, which is deleted automatically after 10 minutes.
  • Donations by e-Transfer or cheque: the name, email, mailing address, and amount you provide so we can record your gift and send an acknowledgment. MuslimVille is not a registered charity and does not issue official tax receipts.
  • Donations by PayPal: payments are processed by PayPal on PayPal's own website. We never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal shares with us the information needed to record your donation, such as your name, email address, and the amount.
  • Orphan Sponsorship and Bag for Orphans donations: these are passed on to a registered Canadian charity we work with (ICNA Relief Canada, Islamic Relief Canada, Human Concern International, and NAMF), which issues the official tax receipt. To make that possible, we share your name, mailing address, email address, and donation amount with that charity.
  • Program registrations: sign-ups for the Ramadan Competition and some other programs happen on our program websites, such as islamiccompetition.com, and are covered by the notices on those sites.

2. How we use your information

  • To reply to your questions and requests, including poster exhibition and program inquiries.
  • To process, record, and acknowledge donations, and to keep the financial records we are required to keep.
  • To pass Orphan Sponsorship and Bag for Orphans donations and donor details to the charity we work with so it can issue tax receipts.
  • To protect our website and our forms from spam and abuse.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use it for advertising, and we will not add you to a mailing list without your consent.

3. Service providers

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website. They handle your information only on our behalf:

  • Website hosting and database: to store contact form messages securely.
  • Resend: to deliver contact form messages to our team by email.
  • PayPal: to process online donations.
  • Partner charities (ICNA Relief Canada, Islamic Relief Canada, Human Concern International, and NAMF): to issue tax receipts for donations designated to Orphan Sponsorship or Bag for Orphans.

Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of that country.

4. Cookies

Public pages of muslimville.com do not set advertising or tracking cookies. We use one essential cookie only when an authorized MuslimVille administrator signs in to our private admin area. If we add analytics or advertising measurement tools in the future, we will update this policy first.

5. How long we keep information

We keep contact messages only as long as we need them to respond and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence, and we delete them periodically. Donation records are kept for as long as Canadian law requires for financial records. You can ask us to delete your contact messages at any time.

6. How we protect information

Our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only authorized MuslimVille administrators can view contact messages, and they must sign in with a one-time code sent to their email. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Children's privacy

Many of our programs serve children, but this website's contact and donation forms are meant for parents, guardians, and adults. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you. If we learn that a child has sent us personal information without a parent's involvement, we will delete it.

8. Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • show you the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your information, unless we are required to keep it by law;
  • stop contacting you.

We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Contact our Privacy Officer

For any privacy question or request, email our Privacy Officer at [email protected] with "Privacy" in the subject line, or write to:
